Our Technology
Nature got the ingredients right. Our job is to process them as little as possible while still making them safe, shelf-stable and easy to serve. That has taken two pieces of technology, both developed in-house.
Air-Dried
Z-TWINTECH® Air-Dried technology
We invented our own gentle air-drying technology to protect the nutritional benefits of raw ingredients. It circulates warm air to slowly dry the food, preserving the nutritional integrity and aroma of our New Zealand ingredients rather than cooking them away.
The result is our Air-Dried range: up to 96% raw meat, organs, seafood and New Zealand green mussels — the goodness of raw with the convenience of dry. Just scoop and serve.
A note on serving size
ZIWI Peak is extremely nutrient-dense, so the daily serving looks small compared with kibble. That is expected. Your pet is getting the calories and nutrients they need — if they seem to be asking for more during the transition, resist the urge to overfeed.
Steam & Dried
Z-MicroSteam™ technology
Our newest range uses a two-stage method. First we delicately micro-steam the raw ingredients to create a texture that is easy to eat. Then we gently air-dry them. The result is a light texture that cats and dogs take to readily.
If you are currently feeding a premium kibble and want to raise the nutritional quality of your pet's food, Steam & Dried is usually the easiest place to start — the texture is the closest to what your pet already knows. See how it compares on meat content and cost per kilo.
Choosing between them
Which one is right for your pet?
Air-Dried has the highest meat inclusion. Steam & Dried has a lighter texture and a lower price per kilo. Canned Wet adds moisture, which matters most for cats.
